Nathan and Solomon and IIbhar and Elishua and Elipet and Nogah and Nepheg and Japhia and Elishama and Buliada and Eliphet.
While most of us have never been in the situation of being brought up in a family where there are several mothers and one father. This geneaology refelcts that situation. Elsewhere Nathan is listed as a son of Bethsheva but that does not fit the actual timing and events told us of David's sin.
ReplyDeleteRather the editing and selection and what goes into the Bible by way of official record is as it should be at this point under the control of Solomon. Thus we have the Book of Ruth in the Bible because Solomon as well is half cast having a foreign race mother (As did Absolum) Ps 119 is testimony to the extent of learning that Bethsheva as his mother ensured that he had in the Torah so that he could/would take the King position as David promises with in the women's competition Bethsheva coming out on top.
Abugail by contrast is like the mother of our lord- Mary; Deeply humble and reflective wise women who can and does at time sweep into David's life at a time of domestic disaster and Nathan the son is the result of her love for David- gift to a women who does not concieve easily. (Ephraim tribal characteristic- See the first pages of the story of Samuel's birth)
OK OK I am here making stuff up. No one can say that Nathan is from the tribe of Ephraim- yet in terms of the Isaiah prophecy about the restoration of Sphrain to Judah...well as a Prophet of God I am preapred to say that Nathan was the some of the women whose name means 'Father of Revolution' Paul Darroch NZ
